The Buteyko Clinic was founded in Moscow in 1988 as an official medical centre for the treatment and prevention of health problems. For almost 17 years the Buteyko Clinic is the only medical centre in Moscow that officially uses the Buteyko method for the treatment of bronchial asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, chronic rhinitis, hypertension and a number of other diseases of civilisation. Professor Buteyko was the director of the clinic until his death in 2003. His leadership allowed the development and successful application of this unique program of medical treatment.

It was a necessary condition of the Director and founder of the Clinic, Professor Buteyko that any staff member of the Clinic must learn the Buteyko method and effectively use it in practice. The simplest method to prove own skills is to cure himself. Many doctors, currently employed in the Clinic are former asthmatics, hypertensives, and allergy-sufferers. They suffered for years from various diseases, cured themselves, returned to active, meaningful life and currently apply all their efforts in order to help sick people to get rid of fears created by their health problems.
